Keynote Speaker 2013 of the Dominincan Independence and Heritage Award Committee of Rhode Island (DIHACRI)
On the evening of February 27, 2013, it took place a significant ceremony were excel Dominicans and other personalities of the Rhode Islander communities were distinguished.
This magnum event has been organized since 2005 by the Dominican Independence and Heritage Award Committee of RI, The Committee was founded by Senator Juan Pichardo and Representative Grace Diaz, with the aim to recognize the Dominican talents of the state of Rhode Island.
The Keynote Speaker Poet and Writer Ana Arelys Cruz Cabrera after making a brief introduction about her book “Contrast of two cities, Providence and Santo Domingo,” pronounced a very emotional speech distinguishing the especial bond established by Latinos and particularly the Dominican community with the people of the city of Providence, and invited Rhode Islanders and all the members of its community to promote the unity among them. “Celebrate our fathers of the motherland because that will bring us togetherness. Always think of their sacrifices for our unity. We should insist in our unity, even if we will have to sacrifice even more.”
Ms. Cruz Cabrera, a Dominican born poet and writer was invited as Keynote Speaker for her contribution to the Dominico-American literature by promoting the culture and history of Providence, RI and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
