Book Launch
On a warm and radiant afternoon of June 3, 2012, the books Contrast of two cities, Providence and Santo Domingo (English and Spanish) and the Tourist Guide Santo Domingo and Providence were launched at the State Room of the State House in the city of Providence, RI. More than one hundred Rhode Islanders attended the event, including dignitaries of the state such as Mayor Angel Taveras, Senator Juan Pichardo, Representante Grace Diaz and Councilwoman Sabina Matos, as well as the Co-Author of the Tourist Guide, Gladys Cruz. This great event was coordinated by Mrs. Carmen Diaz Jusino and Mrs. Doris de los Santos and Linette Diaz. The Mistresses of Ceremony were Karla Jaramillo of Boston and Norelys Consuegra of Providence. A few days prior to this book launch, Poet and Writer Ana Arelys Cruz Cabrera received from the Mayor of the city of Providence, Angel Taveras, the Pin of the City in appreciation for the publication of these books, highlighting the impact of the colony of Providence Plantations and the later formed state of Rhode Island in the country and also in the world. Family members and friends from Santo Domingo and Miami Florida also attended the event. Atress Varsobia Gallego recited Poet Cruz Cabrera's poem "PROVIDENCE"
